Danielle behind the chair

I like to think my career kicked off with a childhood obsession with color. Growing up, my mom was always into experimenting with art, and her passion for color theory and balance greatly influenced me. I quickly picked up on these vibes and applied them to my own self-expression while helping friends do the same.

I went from a family-owned salon in my hometown of Wilmington, NC to the hustle and bustle of the Upper East Side in Manhattan. I found myself working with A-list celebs and on Thursday mornings making incredible transformations happen on NBC’s Today Show’s “Ambush Makeover” with the legend and my mentor, Louis Licari. Being in the salon six days a week with an entire day being dedicated to being mentored 1:1 by masters of the color world while taking clients and critique truly landed me in a position to feel absolutely confident behind the chair. NYC was all about precision and high-profile glam.

In 2021 I was called to closer to nature and I landed in the mountains of Asheville NC. I began working behind the chair at a downtown salon where I connected with Skip Fellers, a true legend in “lived-in” cutting and education. I attended 1:1 education with the icon herself as well as group classes. Inspired by her and the world slowing down I sharpened my shears and my knowledge on all things cutting. I feel I was full of color knowledge and experience at the time but I knew I was craving more and capable of offering more to clients. Maintaining my theme of precision, I found myself flying back and forth from Asheville to NYC’s Sassoon Academy, to master the “ABC’s” of cutting. Over-all my time in Asheville was all about perfecting those effortlessly chic cuts and diving deep into gender-affirming care, thanks to the amazing educators around me. This phase of my career let me fuse top-notch technique with a commitment to inclusivity, creating personalized and welcoming experiences for every client. Staying at the forefront of hair fashion while celebrating each individual’s unique style has become my passion, driven by continuous learning and hands-on practice.

When I’m not behind the chair, you’ll find me out on the boat with friends or hanging with my dog, Dolly. Training and loving on Dolly is my bliss. I also love reading, music, diving into mixed media art and attending art shows downtown. These passions keep me inspired and add that extra creative spark to everything I do.
